Independence Day Celebration

On July 2nd, Springfield hosts its annual Independence Day Celebration. The celebration occurs downtown along North Cross Main Street and includes a parade, contests and games including best dressed pet and bike, watermelon eating and seed spittin'.  Various food vendors are also set up.  The evening finishes with spectacular fireworks over downtown.

August
African American Heritage Festival

The first week of August is now set aside to host Springfield's African American Heritage Festival. The week long event is filled with an array of activities. In past years, the festival has honored prominent African Americans with ties to the city including Louis Sansbury, Ed Polin, Joe Walker, Springfield African American Veterans, educators and athletes.  Several events are held within the community throughout the week, all cumulating Friday night with live entertainment and food vendors downtown.

Kentukcy Crossroads Harvest Festival and Jim Beam BBQ Cook-off

Downtown Springfield comes alive the first weekend in October for the Kentucky Crossroads Harvest Festival and State Championship BBQ Cook-OffThis event features the Jim Beam State BBQ Competition, 5K Run/Walk, parade, live music, kid contests, classic and antique car show, free concert, vendors and much more!

December
Heart of Kentucky Holiday Festival
There is no better time to spend a weekend in the Heart of Kentucky than during the holidays, especially the first Saturday in December.  Enjoy parades, visits with Santa, arts and crafts sales, concerts, tours, tree lightings and more.  Events take place in downtown Springfield and neighboring Marion County.

Willisburg Memorial Homecoming

The Willisburg Memorial Homecoming is held annually the Saturday before Memorial Day in Willisburg, KY.  This celebration includes music, a parade, baby pageant, food and a community yard sale.
